Saab has equipped Lima Airport’s Digital Apron Management Center with technologies to enhance operational efficiency and capacity.

The system, which was launched in December 2024, provides Lima Airport Partners (LAP) with improved situational awareness and management capability over apron operations.

The deployment includes Saab’s Digital Towers, ADS-B surveillance, Aerobahn surface management system, and TactiCall Voice Communication system. This solution enables LAP to optimise apron operations and better manage growing air traffic. The successful partnership between global and local experts has allowed LAP to take full control of apron management, setting a new standard for air traffic management efficiency in Latin America.

Sergio Martins, director of ATM & Surveillance Radars for Latin America at Saab said, “LAP’s Digital Apron Management Center stands as a beacon, showing airport operators in Latin America the right path to follow to improve the efficiency and capacity of their operations.”

“The implementation of the Digital Apron Management Center marks a significant milestone in Lima Airport's journey toward operational excellence. As the first 100% digital apron management system in Latin America, this state-of-the-art solution enhances situational awareness, streamlines apron operations, and reinforces our commitment to safety and efficiency. Through this collaboration with Saab, DFS Aviation Services, and our valued partners, we are setting a new benchmark in apron management, ensuring a smarter, more seamless airport experience for the future,” said Turgay Kircar, chief operating officer at Lima Airport Partners.

DFS Aviation Services started operating the Apron Management at Lima Airport in 2023.

Anja Schneidewind, Branch Director Perú of DFS Aviation Services said: “By providing Apron Management Services from the new Digital Center, we support the sustainable growth of Lima Airport in the coming years. The collaboration underlines our commitment to driving forward the efficiency and innovation of apron management throughout Latin America.”
