Swiss ANSP Skyguide is introducing interactive ATC games into its air traffic controller training program in an effort to increase engagement and pass rates.
Working with training provider Lektor Aero the games are being integrated into the Skyguide Academy’s basic course for controllers in Geneva.
Skyguide hopes the games will enhance the attractiveness of the training journey and boost student engagement and ultimately lead to higher success rates in training.
Samuli Suokas, CEO of Lektor Aero said, “At Lektor Aero, we are committed to developing solutions that address the real challenges faced by the new generation of ATC students and training programs.
“Our gamified approach not only makes learning more enjoyable but also more effective, helping to ensure that more students succeed in their training and go on to become professional air traffic controllers.”
The ATC games enable students to practice essential skills without restrictions and free from the limitations of traditional training methods.
Christian Lareida, head of the Skyguide Academy said, “Skyguide is dedicated to pioneering new methods in ATC training to support our students’ success.
“By partnering with Lektor Aero, we are embracing a modern, engaging, and attractive approach that aligns with the needs of today’s learners and helps ensure that more of our students complete their training by being better prepared for the subsequent training phases, ultimately achieving their goal of becoming air traffic controllers.”
